I have been involved in Emergency services for 40 years. My emergency service life began in 1979 with the Dolgeville Vol. Fire Dept. I am still a member of the dept. having held various positions over the past 40years. In the early 80's, I joined D.A.V.A.C. (Dolgeville Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps.). I served as President and crew chief until they were forced to close the doors due to the lack of volunteers. At this time, time S & S (Stratford & Salisbury) ambulance took over the territory. There I served as a Board member and crew chief. Again due to a lack of volunteers, S & S was left with no other choice but to pursue other options to try and offer a timely medical response to the people of the area. M.O.V.A.C. offered to come in and take over that responsibility. I am currently serving in my 2nd year on the Board of M.O.V.A.C. I also serve on the Personnel and Discipline committees.
In my professional EMS career, I worked for Kunkel Ambulance in Utica, and Rural Metro Ambulance in Herkimer. I had attained the level of AEMT-CC. Being involved helping people either in a volunteer or paid position is very rewarding at the end of the day. If you are considering this field as a career, I strongly recommend it! I am currently employed, for the past 13years, by Central New York Cardiology as a stress tech / Non-Invasive supervisor.
It is my mission to get the medically trained personnel of M.O.V.A.C. to you in a timely manner in your time of need.
